I’m here today to tell you about the deliciousness that is the combo of coconut and basil. I shared a coconut basil smash a loooooong time ago so I’m sure the majority of you never saw it. This recipe is similar, it’s just not a smash style, but more of a loosely based old-fashioned style recipe.
But seriously, if you’ve never had a drink with coconut and basil, I really recommend getting on that because it has to be one of my favorite combos out there. It’s also one most people wouldn’t think of, but they surprising go together like they were made for one another. I started with an old-Fashioned style recipe with rum and basil syrup but upped the syrup portion and balanced it out with the herbaceous flavors of yellow Chartreuse. Also used a splash of lemon juice rather than bitters. It came out an extremely well balanced drink, giving light refreshing island vibes with some thick hints of herbal sweetness. Have you tried coconut and basil together before? 🧐 Cheers!
